Sheenboro Irish Heritage Festival, July 24-26, 2015: There will be a festival this summer and we promise a fun-filled weekend with good local music and dance, a tearoom and local arts and crafts. The festival kicks off on Friday night with local fiddlers and musicians playing at the Hotel Pontiac. On Saturday, the festival runs in Sheenboro all day under a big tent and into the evening with the Ryan Bros. playing from 8 pm till midnight. On Sunday, the festival will end with a mass followed by a cold breakfast in the hall.

Our committee is comprised of Lorna Agnesi, Dick Edwards, Glenn Magill, Joann McCann, Sandra McGregor, Betty Morris, Doris Ranger and Cindy Wheeler. We will have a draw as a fundraiser and first prize is a beautiful Double Irish Chain Quilt made by Betty Morris. Second prizes are two handcrafted items with Celtic themes by Gerald Wheeler and third prize is a bottle of Irish whiskey. Tickets are now available from the committee members.
In addition to our committee, we have already had parish members help us out with various tasks but we do need full parish support to run the events of the weekend. We need your help as the past festival did contribute to the parish purchasing two new stoves for the hall and we made a significant contribution to the parish funds.   If everyone donates an hour to our festival, we will lighten the load on our small group of energetic volunteers.  To volunteer, please contact Lorna Agnesi, Volunteer Coordinator at 819-689-2317 or fiddle-fingers@hotmail.com.  Keep watching our Sheenboro Heritage Festival Facebook page for updates on performers and you can see the draw prizes there too.

NOTES FROM FR. TIM

1. Our sympathies and promise of prayers to the family of Lawrence Chaput who died this week. His funeral was celebrated on Saturday in the Chapeau church. Please pray for the repose of his soul and for the consolation of his wife and family.

2. OK. Bible Study classes are going to be moved back to Thursday evening at 7 pm since only one person has been coming out for the afternoon time. We are currently working through Ch. 7 of the Gospel of Matthew. There’s always room for more folks and plenty of scriptures to cover so why not make the effort and attend these classes. They are held in the parish rectory in St. Joseph’s.

3. Your tax receipts are available as of this weekend. If you cannot find yours or if it is somehow in error, please call Pauline at the parish office so that we can make any necessary corrections and issue a new receipt. Thank you.
