FIRST COMMUNION & FIRST CONFESSION: First Communion will take place on the Sunday, May 3rd in your own parishes. First Confessions will take place on Saturday, May 2nd at 10:00 AM in the sacristy of St. Alphonsus Church. Children receiving their sacrament are asked to return their reader, on May 3rd. Sheenboro Council – Family Senior Municipal Policy: The Municipality of Sheenboro is committed to improving the lives of seniors and families. An action plan was developed by the Family-Senior Municipal Policy Committee and has been approved by council. A public consultation will be held on April 27th 2015 at the Municipal building between the hours of 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

BENEFIT DANCE FOR BABY ALEXIS LEPINE MAY 2ND, 2015: Benefit Dance for Alexis will take place at Harrington Community Centre from 9 pm to 1am. Cost is $10 per person. Theology of the Body for Teens – Training for adults – Friday, May 22 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, Pembroke. If you are a parent, catechist, youth leader/coordinator, principal, teacher, deacon, priest or anyone who works with teens, you are invited to attend a training session on one of the most important topics that relates to youth. You will learn how to answer questions like: ‘’Why did God give us sexual desires? What is the purpose of the TOB? What is the difference between love and lust? How far is too far? What if I’ve already ‘messed up’? How can I discover my vocation? How can teens remain pure in our oversexed culture? No cost for anyone from the diocese. Adult Faith Retreat: The Diocesan Faith Formation Office is sponsoring an Adult Faith Retreat on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall in Pembroke from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This retreat is open to all the faithful of the diocese. The theme will be ‘’Living God’s Plan for Our Lives’’ and the guest speaker will be Damon Owens from the Theology of the Body Institute. Please join us on this special day as we hear about the teachings of Saint John Paul II. USED BOOK FAIR: To support our Spring Celebration of Learning, Dr. Wilbert Keon School is holding a used book fair from May 4th to May 8th. We are looking for donations of books you no longer want, but feel someone else may enjoy. Books can be dropped off at the school. We are also looking for volunteers to help sort, organize, and sell books. Please contact Jean Gleason (819) 689-2119 if you can help out.

CodyMobile is looking for part-time help. 16 to 24 hours a week. Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs. Candidates must be able to handle a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service skills a must. Contact Corey Spence if you are interested or know someone who is.

THANK YOU: The Bissonnette Family wish to express their thanks to everyone who participated in the April 11th fundraiser in Chapeau for Shirley. We are indebted to those who prepared and served food and drink at the event, donated prizes and money, and to the Ghost Town Cryers for the gift of their music. Special thanks to Annette Dagenais, Amber Montgomery-Boire, Leah Fischer and Sylvie Gagnon for organizing and promoting the event. We wish to also thank all the local businesses for their wonderful support. All funds raised will be used to defray costs of travel, medications, and supplies as Shirley battles her cancer. We are truly blessed to live in such a supportive and wonderful community.

Student Job at the Culbute Museum in Chichester. Employment begins on the 29th of June for a period of 240 hrs. The job will require 5 days a week for 6hrs per day which will include working weekends The museum will be closed on Monday and Tuesday’s .The students going to college or entering college will take priority. All students will be considered. Students have until May 12th at 4 pm to submit their applications and your social insurance number to the Chichester Municipality located at 75 Notre Dame Street Chapeau, Quebec.

Knights of Columbus Council 1531 will host independent living/mobility specialist Sally Plant at the K of C Hall, Ellis Avenue on Tuesday April 28 at 7:30 p.m. Her topic will be “CNIB services-where to go when glasses don’t help”.  This session is open to all Knights, their families and the community.

SUMMER JOB: The municipality of Sheenboro is looking for a student to work for the municipality during the summer. Under the supervision of the town foreman the student will work 35 hours a week at $10.55 per hour for 9 weeks. The job involves working weekends. Dr. Wilbert Keon School’s Drama Club proudly presents The Secret Garden Wednesday May 6 and Thursday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. This adaptation of the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett traces the life of a young orphan girl who is brought to a stately English manor. There she meets a young boy with a feisty temper. Together they discover a secret that ultimately changes their lives forever. This play celebrates family and the power of friendship. SPRING CELEBRATION OF LEARNING: Dr. Wilbert Keon School invites you to our third annual Spring Celebration of Learning Thursday, May 7, beginning at 4:00. Children K-11 will share special projects and new learnings including musical and dramatic performances. This year`s theme of `Literacy“ will extend to a Book Fair. 1. March for Life: The annual Ottawa March for Life will be held on Thursday, May 14th. A bus provided by the Diocese of Pembroke and the Renfrew County Right to Life will leave Moncion Grocers East End at 6:45 a.m. Drop-off will be at St. Patrick Basilica on Kent St. and pick-up on Parliament Hill at 3:00 p.m. Free will offering will be collected. 2. FUND RAISER – POT-LUCK SUPPER – ST. PAUL THE HERMIT PARISH HALL ON SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2015. TIME: after the 5:00 o’clock Mass – PRICE -$5.00 IF YOU BRING A DISH – IF NOT $10.00. CHILDREN UNDER 12 – $5.00. – 50/50 Draw –  TO RAISE FUNDS FOR REPAIRS TO SHEEN PARISH HALL -tickets are $2.00 each or 3/ for $5.00. Draw will take place after the potluck dinner on May 16th.

3. Bible Study classes continue on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. All you need to participate is a bible and a desire to learn what’s in it!
