Sheenboro Irish Heritage Festival, July 24-26, 2015, Advance Tickets Available

There will be a festival this summer and we promise a fun-filled weekend with good local music and dance, a tearoom and local arts and crafts. The festival kicks off on Friday night with local fiddlers, square dancing and musicians playing at the Hotel Pontiac. On Saturday, the festival runs in Sheenboro all day under a big tent with Dominic D’Arcy kicking off the event, Louis Schryer, Gail Gavan, the Ramblin Valley Band, Erin and Siobheann Leahy and many other talented musicians and dancers. There will be a Jam session from 6:00 to 7:30 pm under the tent and all musicians and dancers are welcome. The entertainment continues into the evening with the Ryan Bros. playing from 8 pm till midnight. On Sunday, the festival will end with a mass followed by a cold lunch in the hall.
We need your help as the past festival did contribute to the parish purchasing two new stoves for the hall and we made a significant contribution to the parish funds.   If everyone donates an hour to our festival, we will lighten the load on our small group of energetic volunteers.  To volunteer, please contact Lorna Agnesi, Volunteer Coordinator at 819-689-2317 or  Keep watching our Sheenboro Heritage Festival Facebook page for updates on performers and you can see the draw prizes there too.

For full day and evening admission, advance Tickets are $20 for adults and free to those under the age of 15 years old. At the gate, they are $25 so please contact any of the committee members to purchase advance tickets.

Friends of Peru: This is a short account of way your donations were used in Peru this year.  Alicia and I went down to Peru in November and came back in April.   This past year there was a great deal of changes in our Parish in Chincha Baja.  We had a visiting priest from Puerto Rico and he had celebrated healing masses where the Holy Spirit worked many miracles.  Alicia and I were part of the team that supported him in his ministry. We also had a new priest in the parish He is almost blind but he organized many spiritual activities such as a Week end retreat for 300 teen agers.  Many of them met the Lord for the first time in their life.  Because he is nearly blind, many lay people help him.  Some of your donation money was used to help support this retreat and several other spiritual activities.

Money is scarce in the parish and we helped put some cement around the church and close to the priest house.  The priests needed some work done in their house and we helped them get a washer to wash their clothes.  We help them with anything that is going to facilitate their work in the parish.

Other things that donation money helped  some kids with their schooling whether they were in grade school or  in University .  Medical needs when they have an emergency will always need special help and we try to help the best we can. Poverty needs we will always have and we try to help the most needed.  For example we help those that can receive a free home from the Government.   They usually need help with paper work and initial payment.    Most of the time these families are poor ones who have many children and live in tents.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! It is so overwhelming and heart warming to see our community come together and show all the support that was shown! It was a wonderful evening enjoyed by all who attended.   Thank you EVERYONE for the continuous support and all your prayers ! It means so much to us & will not be forgotten!       Josh & Tara Lepine & Family.

1) Nancy Gleason and Anita Sawyer have both decided to step down as the Sheenboro parish representatives on the Parish Finance Committee. We thank then for their dedication to representing their fellow parishioners on that committee. I will be approaching various parishioners from St. Paul’s parish to take their place and trust that replacement representatives will soon be found. We will publish their names once they are in place. If anyone is interested in taking on this job, please feel free to contact me! The committee will meet four times a year.

2) Don’t forget to mark ‘Father’s Day’ on your calendar to participate in the St. Joseph’s Father’s Day Brunch. Mass will be at 11 am. on that Sunday in St. Joseph’s. I/We thank Fr. Tom Fitzpatrick for agreeing to come and celebrate this mass.

3) Someone has suggested that it would be nice if each of our three churches could have mass celebrated on Sunday and dispense with a Saturday evening mass. I am open to doing this if we can arrive at a workable schedule that is agreeable to all three communities. While there won’t be any immediate or sudden change, may I please ask for folks to pray for guidance in addressing this possibility as playing around with mass schedules can be divisive for all concerned. What we’re doing now works… but that doesn’t mean that there still might be a better way to proceed in the future. May the Spirit and saints guide us in such matters.
