|Notes from Fr. Tim:|
|1) Please pray for the repose of Mr. Lorne Gagnon of Chichester who has died. Lornie is the husband of Loella Gagnon, a teacher of many of our parishioners who attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School (now DWKS). His wake will be held on Sunday evening from 5-9 pm at Hayes Funeral Home with the funeral to take place in St. Alphonsus Church on Monday at 11 am.
2) Now that August is upon us I will be once again taking my summer vacation. I will be available for funerals and weddings as well as our regular Sunday masses, but there will not be any weekday masses offered until after Labour Day.
3) Thank you to those who volunteered to help transport the various items of furniture etc. from St. Joseph’s to my cottage. Now comes the task of putting things together and in their proper place. Anyone who would be willing to help would be warmly welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!
4) This weekend we welcome two new Catholics who are being baptized in St. Alphonsus Church following the Sunday mass. They are Deacon and Nora-Jean Blais, children of Mackenzie Jones and Brandon Blais. Please pray that they both be granted a long and grace-filled life as members of our Catholic faith.
5) John’s Gospel notes the detail that the bread blessed and shared with the crowd are barley loaves. This is the food of the poor. It reminds us that God feeds and nourishes us, fulfilling our physical needs as well as our spiritual ones. In the Eucharist, we are sent to serve the poorest among us. This is why each parish has adopted one particular mission to support in the developing world. So even though our parishes hardly qualify as ‘rich’, participating in supporting these projects in Peru and Costa Rica help us to be reminded that there are others in greater need of our resources than ourselves.
