CHAPEAU GALLERY NEWS:
The Gallery will be open on Saturday & Sundays only from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Next Bake & Book Sale will be Saturday & Sunday, October 6 & 7.
–In memory of the late Maurice Bissonnette of Allumette Island. Maurice was a well-known artist whose works include the Stations of the Cross in St. Alphonsus Church and the Millennium Coin for the Canadian Mint. Maurice’s masterpieces will be on display Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. His daughter Karrie will be available on Sunday, September 23rd from 1-3 pm to answer your questions.
-Peggy Shannon of Allumettes Island. Peggy’s background is in portraiture, paintings(mixed mediums) and ceramics. Her artwork was shown in the United States and Canada and the award-winning ceramic pieces are displayed in the permanent collection at the Indiana University. To view Peggy’s artwork, she will be available at the Gallery on Saturday & Sunday, September 29th & 30th.
-Ingrid Hoffer of Chichester. Ingrid designs, hand knits and sews doll clothes. She features a wide selection of over 50 pieces of doll clothing at the Gallery. To view Ingrid’s creation, stop by the Gallery, Saturday & Sunday, October 6th & 7th, 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
-Jeannine Lahaie of Ottawa. Jeannine is a descendant of the ‘Captain Nazaire Emond’ of Allumettes Island. She paints landscapes of mountains, rivers, and lakes mounted on crochet wall hangings, pendants, etc. Stop by the Gallery, Saturday & Sunday, October 13-14 from 10 am -4pm to view Jeannine’s art & crafts.

LIFE CHAIN AND A FILM: ‘Life Chain’ will be held on Sunday, September 30th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. All are to meet at the Festival Hall parking lot at 1:45 p.m. It is a powerful, peaceful street witness and prayer vigil. Life Chain goes…rain or shine! You can bring water, lawn chairs, umbrellas, and strollers. After the vigil at 3:30 p.m., a film entitled “Fatal Flaws: Legalizing Assisted Death’ will be presented at Holy Name Annex. ST. ALPHONSUS C.W.L: Will be the next group to host the Monday night card parties beginning October 1 through December. We would greatly appreciate prize donations. These could be dropped off at the hall on Monday evenings or given to Gail, Joan or Janie at any time. Thanks once again!

MISSION: HONORING FATHER CHABOT’S WISHES-HIS GIFT TO YOU John Pridmore is an ex-gangster who underwent an amazing conversion experience and later worked with the Friars of the Renewal in the Renewal in the Bronx and with Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. His is now a full-time lay evangelist living in Ireland. He will share his story at a three-day area mission at St. Columbkille Cathedral, Pembroke, from Monday, October 1st to Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018. An internationally know best-selling author and much sought-after speaker, John has conducted Parish Missions and has spoken to groups throughout the world. He has spoken at many high school assemblies and has addressed half a million young people in the presence of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI at World Youth Day in Australia in 2008. 1) Hoot! Hoot! It’s one week to go to the Chapeau Turkey Parish Supper. Please consider helping out however you can: as a volunteer worker and as a customer. Don’t miss out on the best turkey parish supper in the diocese!!
2) Don’t forget to check out the quilts that are the first prize for the Chapeau and St. Joseph’s Parish Draws. They are on display in each church. There will also be another hockey game draw (Montreal at Ottawa) compliments of Harrington Mechanical as well as prizes from other local merchants. So bring lots of change to buy as many chances to win as possible! 3) Bible Study classes will start on the third Thursday of October (October 18th) at 7 pm in St. Joseph’s. 4) Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary to Meril & Iris Fleury who celebrate this wonderful occasion this weekend.
