Notes from Fr. Tim:
1) Well, folks, we’re headed into the homestretch in our Advent race towards Christmas. For most, the tree’s are up with presents placed carefully around it, the freezer, fridges, and liquor cabinets are filled with food to feed hungry guests and drinks to warm them, and virtually every TV channel has some seasonal programming to sate every Christmas wish and desire. But have we made ourselves ready spiritually for Christ who after all is the real reason for the season? Have we made a good confession to prepare our souls for the coming of the Messiah into our midst? If this is something that you still need to take care of, I will be in the confessional in St. Joseph’s this Thursday (Dec 20) from 7 pm to 8 pm and in Chapeau on Saturday (Dec 22) from 3 pm to 4 pm.

2) We welcome Msgr. Douglas Bridge among us at this weekend’s 10:30 am Mass in Chapeau to present the Bene Merenti Medals to Bert Collin, Jerome Sallafranque, and Henry Sallafranque.

3) Our prayers and sympathies go out to the family of Mary Gladys (Bert) Lapierre whose funeral was celebrated in Chapeau this past Thursday.

4) This Sunday is called ‘Gaudete Sunday’. It was also known as “Rose Sunday”. In churches that have an Advent wreath, the rose coloured candle is lit in addition to three of the violet coloured candles, which represent the other Sundays of Advent. It represents the joy that’s building in our hearts at the approaching birth of the Christ child who comes to offer us the gift of salvation.

5) Here is the Mass Schedule for Christmas this year.

Christmas Eve: 5 pm – St. Joseph; 7 pm – Chapeau; 9 pm – Sheenboro

Christmas Day: 10:30 am – Chapeau

6) No one has yet approached me with any Mass intentions to be celebrated during my sabbatical. Since there will not be any weekday masses celebrated here during my absence, you might want to make arrangements with me if you wanted to mark an anniversary etc. with one.

7) We are still looking for people to step up and help with the various liturgical ministries of Reader and Eucharistic minister. Please consider helping out with these important jobs in the liturgical life of our parishes.
