THANK YOU: We extend deep appreciation, gratitude and thanks to all those who so generously and compassionately participate in the celebration of the life, death, and entry to eternal life of Mary-Bert Lapierre. Special thank you to those devoted friends who companioned with her and made the final journey a graced experience. Thanks also to the C.W.L for their witness of solidarity, Colleen for the gift of music and song and the pastor Father Tim with the visiting clergy, Msgr. Bridge and Father Brennan, expressing deeply the continuity of the religious past and present of Mary’s faith community. Sincerely in Peace and Thanksgiving.

Notes from Fr. Tim:

1) After 17 years of playing the organ in Sheenboro Elaine Rochon has left us to take up a position in another church closer to Pembroke. We thank Elaine for her many years of sharing her musical talents with our parishioners and wish her all the best in her new position.

2) But now, we face the task of searching for a new organist for Sheenboro. If anyone is interested, or if you know of someone who might like the job, please either let Jeannie Gleason-Lebel or the office know so that we can fill this position as soon as possible. In the interim, we thank Maureen Belland who has agreed to fill-in for a while on Saturday evenings and Cindy Wheeler who will play on Christmas Eve.

3) Some folks have been talking to me about my upcoming sabbatical (I leave town on January 11th) and they seem to think that this is an extended holiday or rest period. In fact, it’s something quite different. A sabbatical is a period in which someone goes off to study or learn a new skill for their job. To that end, I will be studying at St. Mary’s Seminary and John’s Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland so that I can (hopefully) better serve you when I return. I will be researching the topic: ‘Friendship’ as a model of the moral life.

4) There will be a meeting of the combined Finance Committee on Tuesday January 8th at 7 pm in St. Joseph’s. This meeting will be to review the financial statements for 2018 and inform everyone of the regime I’ve put in place to pay the bills during my absence.
