Sheenboro, St. Paul the Hermit Parish – Our church has some necessary minor capital projects (ceiling plaster, electrical stack and side door).  In addition, we have two major repairs needed: the wall near the side entrance and repointing of exterior stonework.  We are seeking donations from individuals or families in support of these capital projects.  As we are celebrating the centenary of the rebuilding (1918) and dedication (1919) of our church on September 1, we propose that donations are noted in memory of a family member and a plaque will be placed at the entrance with their names. If you have questions, please speak to Fr. Tim about this fundraising initiative.

Got Life Questions? R.C.I.A. might just be for you! R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a journey for anyone who is interested in becoming a Catholic, and growing in their life as a Christian. It is for someone who has never been baptized, or maybe has been baptized in another Christian faith and wishes to know more about the Catholic faith. Maybe you have been baptized and have not received the other Sacraments for your life’s mission. If any of these scenarios apply to you, we would love to help in your spiritual journey. All are welcome to join us in exploring this new quest. Please contact Deacon Adrien Chaput at 613 732-7933 ext. 206 if you wish to know more about the Catholic faith.

Fr. Tim Notes:
1) Monday is Canada Day! There is much for us to celebrate as citizens of what is arguably the best country in the world. And there’s no better place to celebrate than in our corner of the land that is Sheenboro. Festivities begin with a Mass at 9 am and continue throughout the day. I hope to see many of you there.

 2) One thing that always confronts any parish community is the upkeep and maintenance of their buildings. The same is true for us here in the Upper Pontiac. This year the focus is Sheenboro with work needed on both the Church and Parish Hall.  Estimates for completing all the required repairs to bring everything up to top condition are approaching $100,000. Any donations to help defray these costs will be much appreciated, as will suggestions and offers to organize fundraising events to help pay off this expense. So, if you have any ideas or extra funds to provide, don’t keep them in your pocket! Now is the time to step up and help ensure the long-term health and viability of your church.

 3) Speaking of fundraising, it appears that the upcoming play on August 10th in support of St. Alphonsus church is going to be a great success. Tickets are mainly sold out, although we are putting together a waiting list for any that are returned for various reasons. However, it will still be possible to attend the dance that follows the play. Entry for dance-only tickets will sell for $20. Given the numbers of people who are already in attendance for the play who are from out of town, the dance is sure to be a great place to meet old friends and renew acquaintances.
