Fr. Tim Notes: |
1) We begin a new video series this week as part of our Adult Catechism program in both Chapeau and St. Joseph’s entitled ‘Forgiven: The Transforming Power of Confession.‘ This series contains five videos, each approximately 30 minutes long, and helps Catholics grow in their understanding of how and why we need this life-giving gift of God’s forgiveness so that we can live at peace with him and with each other. The videos in St. Joseph’s are on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm and again in Chapeau on Wednesday mornings after the 10 am Mass. I look forward to seeing you there.
2) Next week marks the beginning of Advent. It’s also the time we bring our Eucharistic Adoration program entirely up to speed with its start in St. Joseph’s Parish where adoration will be from 7pm to 8 pm on Thursday and Friday evening. While we have a full complement of volunteers in both Sheenboro and Chapeau, we are always in need of a few more folk for all three parishes. If you are available and interested in being an adorer, please either let me know or call Michael Mainville at 819-689-2681. Thank you. 3) This weekend we celebrate the great feast of Christ the King. Catherine de Heuck Doherty wrote that it is within the privacy of our souls that we encounter Christ daily. She says that there are only two articles of furniture within that intimate space: a throne and a cross, and that Jesus allows us to pick which we are willing to sit upon. If we insist upon sitting on the throne, then we condemn Christ to always remain on the cross. However, if we are willing to take up the cross in our daily lives, then we permit Jesus to rule within us from the throne. So… where does Jesus sit in your soul? 4) Regarding the children’s catechism program: If your child still has not picked up their required workbooks for their class you can obtain it from Pauline at the Parish office during office hours. As it has been, the cost remains $10.00. Also, if your child has not yet been registered or didn’t attend the first session last weekend, they can still participate if they obtain their workbook and attend the next class on the first Sunday in December. REMEMBER – Mass attendance is a REQUIRED component of the program and children must get their attendance sheet signed after Mass in the sacristy. The next Catechism class will be held on Sunday, December 1st at 9:15 a.m. at D.W.K.S. Thank you! 5) Regarding the parking issue in Sheenboro, the town has removed the ‘No Parking’ signs from our parking lot. This excludes, for now, the danger of anyone receiving a parking ticket for parking on the Hall side of the lot. HOWEVER, the firetruck must always have unimpeded access to the new water reservoir, which was installed behind the Municipal Offices last summer. PLEASE ensure that there remains sufficient space between those who parallel park on the East side of the lot from those who park perpendicular to the Church on the West so that the fire truck can get in and out without delay. |
