Reminder: you are invited to become a member of the new Diocesan D&P Council

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As you are already aware, our diocese has decided to renew Development and Peace’s Share Lent collection in 2021 because of the major restructuring that has begun at the end of the year 2020. One must always remember that the very creation of D&P was initiated by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) in 1967. An important joint press release between the CCCB and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) will soon be made public and will confirm that from now on, all contracts with partners that were causing problems have been definitively settled. To be continued.

Don’t forget that we will have an important meeting via Zoom this coming Saturday, February 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., to create a Diocesan D&P Council. This council has not been in existence for many years, and we would like to raise it from its ashes by inviting you to join it. Over the years, many people have joined the organization of D&P and have collaborated in different ways to promote or to support the remarkable missionary works it has accomplished and will continue to accomplish in our Southern hemisphere. Overall, their commitments have proven to be a life-changing experience and an occasion to blossom as they contribute to help the neediest of our planet. Do not hesitate to support and to join our new diocesan council. Please register in advance for this session by following the link below:

To register by phone, contact Tara Hurford, (613) 738-9644, ext. 224.

Sincerely yours in Christ our Redeemer,

+ Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R.

Bishop of Pembroke
