Sheenboro Irish Heritage Festival, July 24-26, 2015, Advance Tickets Available
There will be a festival this summer and we promise a fun-filled weekend with good local music and dance, a tearoom and local arts and crafts. The festival kicks off on Friday night with local fiddlers, square dancing and musicians playing at the Hotel Pontiac. On Saturday, the festival runs in Sheenboro all day under a big tent with Dominic D’Arcy kicking off the event, Louis Schryer, Gail Gavan, the Ramblin Valley Band, Erin and Siobheann Leahy and many other talented musicians and dancers. There will be a Jam session from 6:00 to 7:30 pm under the tent and all musicians and dancers are welcome. The entertainment continues into the evening with the Ryan Bros. playing from 8 pm till midnight. On Sunday, the festival will end with a mass followed by a cold lunch in the hall.
We need your help as the past festival did contribute to the parish purchasing two new stoves for the hall and we made a significant contribution to the parish funds.   If everyone donates an hour to our festival, we will lighten the load on our small group of energetic volunteers.  To volunteer, please contact Lorna Agnesi, Volunteer Coordinator at 819-689-2317 or fiddle-fingers@hotmail.com.  Keep watching our Sheenboro Heritage Festival Facebook page for updates on performers and you can see the draw prizes there too.

For full day and evening admission, advance Tickets are $20 for adults and free to those under the age of 15 years old. At the gate, they are $25 so please contact any of the committee members to purchase advance tickets.

There will be a Celtic mass at 11:00 am followed by a cold brunch in the Parish Hall. Tickets for the meal are available from the committee members or contact Janet Retty. Cost of the meal is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.  We are seeking donated baked items for the brunch such as muffins, squares and cakes and these items may be dropped off at the hall before the Sunday mass.

Notes from Fr: Tim
1) Our congratulations to Jeffrey Burke and Colleen Berrigan who were married this weekend in St. Alphonsus Church. Please join with me in praying for many happy and grace-filled years together for our newest married couple.

2) Please don’t forget to pray for the sick during these vacation months. I hear that John Lapierre is particularly in need of prayers these days. Please remember to lift him and his family up in prayer during these difficult days.

3) Next weekend marks a couple of major events in the life of our diocese. First off we have the Irish Heritage Weekend in Sheenboro – a celebration of all things Irish. It’s also the weekend for the annual St. Anne’s Pilgrimage in Cormac.

4) We congratulate Derek Bertrand (Sheenboro), Michael Chaput (Allumette Island) and Winston Sunstrum (St. Joseph’s) on the opening of their new restaurant, ‘L’Ancienne Banque’ in Chapeau. The doors to the new establishment open to the public this Wednesday at 4 pm. It’s good to see another business open on the Chapeau Main Street.
