ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! The Annual St. Alphonsus CWL Craft Sale and Chicken Pot Pie Luncheon will be held on Sunday, November 1st at Harrington Community Centre. There will be a tote for grocery items which will be used for the Dice prize. Any grocery items will help fill the tote and are most welcomed. FAMILY ROOTS AND COMMUNITY HISTORY:EXPLORING OUR UNIQUE PEOPLE/PLACE CONNECTION: Come join us at the West Pontiac Connects Centre for an introductory course that combines family genealogies, local history and modern technology as we explore our very unique local history with distinct aboriginal content, facilitated by local artist and social researcher Paula LaPierre. This introduction equips adults to continue on with their own personal examination of our social history in a very special local context. There is room for attendees for the 4 week course. Available Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Thursday 6 – 8 pm evening courses beginning Oct. 15 until Nov. 5, 2015, Tuesday 6 – 8 pm evening courses beginning October 20 until Nov. 10, 2015. Cost is $20.00 a seat for 4 participants, for each 2 hr. session, offered once a week for 4 weeks.

FRIENDS OF PERU: We want to thank you for the support of our friends in Peru. We will be returning to Peru in November and anyone who wants to give a donation we will see that 100% of it is given to a needy family.   We will not have a 50/50 draw this year but if you can collect refundable bottles or cans from your neighbors and cash them in for this work, it would be and added bonus. Donations can be placed in a separate envelope, marked Friends of Peru and placed in the Sunday collection. If you give us your email address we will try to keep in touch from Peru.  FORMATION DAY FOR CATECHISTS AND OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS: A formation day for catechists will be held on Saturday, November 21st, 2015 at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish Hall, 284 Trafalgar Road, Pembroke from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our guest speaker for the day will be Dr. Jason Dedo, with lunch and refreshments provided. There is no registration fee but registration is necessary. This formation day is open to all catechists, those interested in the ministry of catechesis, pastors, deacons and pastoral assistants. YOUNG AT HEART NEWS: activities will start again for a new year. Pot Luck at noon on Wednesday, October 21st followed by a General Meeting. Reminder: this is a good time to renew your membership and we welcome new members.

YOUNG AT HEART CLUB: sponsored Tuesday Social Club at Harrington Community Centre from 1pm to 3 pm. Activities include knitting, crochet, (lessons available) board games and socializing. Other suggestions welcome as well as new members. The TSC has yarn, has needles, and needs some more helpful hands to knit 8 inch squares, to make into blankets for mission and refugees. 1) This weekend St. Joseph’s puts on the BEST Roast Beef Dinner one can eat in the Ottawa Valley! Thanks to all the parishioners who work so hard to ensure the success of this important fundraiser. Your hard work is very much appreciated.

2) The Renfrew Country Right to Life Association is hosting their annual banquet on Tuesday, October 27th in the Lourdes Parish Hall. The guest speaker this year is Alex Schadenberg, President of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition of Canada. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for students. 3) Our Bible Study continues each Thursday evening at 7 pm in the Rectory in St. Joseph’s. We have our regular nine folks each week but new people are always welcome. We are wrapping up the Gospel of Matthew in the next few weeks and will soon launch into a new text. Why not help build the Kingdom by learning more about God’s word?
