|Notes from Fr. Tim|
|1) As we come to the end of the Christmas season it’s time for me to offer a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make it so great: choirs, readers, ministers, decorators, pageant directors and participants, servers… Our churches were beautiful and our liturgies meaningful thanks to your great work. A special word of thanks to Fr. Mike Costello who celebrated the Christmas masses in Sheenboro and Fort William. It would not have been possible to meet the demands for all the Christmas Eve masses without his assistance.
2) Don’t forget that this is the weekend of the Catechism classes for the youth of our parishes. I will be teaching the confirmation class in the Chapeau sacristy immediately following the 10:30 am mass. Remember that attendance at these classes is a REQUIREMENT for receiving the sacraments.
3) Bible study classes resumed this week… although just about everyone was sick with either a cold or the flu so we didn’t actually meet. Hopefully, everyone will be back on their feet for our next class this Thursday evening at 7 pm in the St. Joseph’s rectory.
4) Have you taken the time to visit our parish blog yet? It’s found at www.uppontiacparishes.wordpress.com. We publish the bulletin each week, funeral arrangements for deceased, and the occasional article of interest. You can also check out my own blog (Where The Rubber Hits The Road) at http://www.frtimmoyle.blogspot.com where I publish links every day to various stories relating to our Catholic faith.
5) Fr. Tom Fitzpatrick has had his surgery on his ankle and has been discharged from the hospital. He is going to be laid up and off his feet for the next two months. I thank you for your generous support of him at last weekend’s masses. Any further donations will be forwarded to him should you have missed the special collections we took up and still want to help him out.
