CHILDREN’S CATECHISM CLASS: Final Catechism class will be this Sunday, May 7th, at this time we ask that all children bring their readers back and hand them into the teachers.

We also would like the teachers to hand in the attendance sheet & readers at the office. Thank you!

SHEENBORO NATURE PRESERVE FUNDRAISER DANCE: On Saturday May 20, 2017, Sheenboro Parish Hall, there will be a fundraiser dance Featuring  THE GHOST TOWN CRYERS from 9:00 pm – 12:00 am. Tickets are $12:00 each, a light lunch will be served. Advance Tickets: see Mayor Doris Ranger, Dick Edwards, Diane Lacourse and Joann McCann and tickets will also be sold at the door. Come out enjoy the Ottawa Valley’s premier source of entertainment while supporting the Sheenboro Nature Preserve!

FRED MEILLEUR GOLF TOURNAMENT: Friday, June 30th, 2017 in support of the Upper Pontiac Sports Complex and Residence Meilleur du Haut Pontiac. The tournament will be held at the Island Brae (shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.) and Pontefract Golf Clubs(shotgun at 9 a.m.) Cost is $60 for golf and supper. $40 for golf only and $30 for supper only. Golf Cart Rentals are extra. Call the Island Brae (613-732-9022) and the Pontefract (819-683-3308) to reserve. A catered supper begins at 7 pm in the Chapeau Arena. All are welcome! Triduum in honour of the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima in Renfrew

In honour of the 100th anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, Father Brian Clarke of the Diocese of Scranton will preach a Triduum on May 10, 11 and 12 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 100 Lisgar Avenue in Renfrew. Mass each morning at 9:00 a.m. and Sung Vespers and homily each evening at 7:00 p.m. The Most Reverend Michael Mulhall will conclude the Triduum with the celebration of Mass on the feast of Our Lady of Fatima on Saturday, May 13th at 9:00 a.m.  For the full schedule please visit

CELEBRATING MARRIAGE BANQUET – THURSDAY, MAY 25TH, 2017: The Family Life and Youth Ministry Office and the Office of Faith Formation would like to celebrate and highlight the importance of the Sacrament of Marriage. All married couples are invited to attend our first annual dinner banquet at Our Lady of Lourdes parish hall from 6 pm – 9 pm with guest speaker Patrick Sullivan, Catholic Lay Evangelist. There will be time for adoration and recognition of couples celebrating special anniversaries by Bishop Mulhall. Tickets ($40/couple) musty be purchased by May 18th. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: The next regular meeting of Knights of Columbus council 1531 will be held May 9 at the K of C hall on Ellis Avenue in Pembroke, It starts at 7:30 p.m.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 1531: Will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. The main purpose of the meeting is to elect a new slate of officers for the coming year. Should any member wish to let his name stand for election or wish to nominate someone please contact Keith Martin. Any Catholic man wishing to become a member can contact Grand Knight Noel Leclaire.

MARRIAGE BANNS: There is a promise of marriage between Samuel Vaillancourt son of Andre Vaillancourt and Mary Ann Keon and Kiersten Smith daughter of Robert Gerenser(deceased) and Leah Smith. The wedding will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Church.

ST. JOSEPH FUNDRAISING EVENT-TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW:  Where The Two Islands Meet’ will be an event this Sunday, May 7th consisting of two slide shows with musical performances by Jim Beattie. The first slide show (beginning at 4:30 pm) will focus on the Emerald Isle with the second (beginning at 6:30 pm.) will highlight the sights and sounds of our beloved Ottawa Valley. In between the two presentations (at 5:45 pm) there will be a meal of Irish Stew served. Tickets can be purchased from one of the following: Margaret Tallon (689-2676), Donna Tierney (689-2558), Sharon Fitzpatrick (689-2907), or from the parish office. They are already selling fast so don’t delay in getting yours as space is limited.

ST. JOSEPH PARISH “BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG”: First Step Options is a charitable Christian agency designed to assist and give life affirming information to those in a crisis pregnancy. It is not funded by the government so we are enlisting the aid of local area churches to help clients receive information, counsel, and support for their developing babies. We are inviting interested parishioners to take a baby bottle from the entrance of the church on Mother’s Day (May 14). You can fill it with change or make a donation and return the bottle (empty or full) to church on Father’s Day (June 18). Thank you for your interest in this endeavour. MEILLEUR RESIDENCE: The public is invited to attend the Annual General Meeting for the Meilleur Seniors Residence which will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 7:00pm at Harrington Community Center, Chapeau. The architect and engineers have been hired and made their first site visit. Come out for a full update.

UPPER PONTIAC SUMMER DAY CAMP SPONSORED BY CHAPEAU RA- JOB POSTINGS: 1. Camp coordinator for 10 weeks at $15.00/hour for 40 hrs a week. Must be 18 years old. 2. Camp animator (3 positions) for 8 weeks at $11.25/hour for 40 hours a week. 3. Act-leader for 6 weeks at $11.25/hour for 30 hours a week. Applicants for camp animator must be 16 years of age, all applicants must be returning to school in the fall. Applicants should have a valid First-aid and CPR certificate.
