 YOUNG AT HEART NEWS:   Cards will start on Wednesday, October 3rd at 1 p.m. There will be a Pot Luck Dinner on October 24th at 11:30 p.m. followed by a General meeting and by cards.

ST. ALPHONSUS C.W.L: St. Alphonsus CWL will meet after Mass on Tuesday, September 4th.   An invitation is extended to all members.

ENVELOPES FOR MEAT DONATIONS: Our Chapeau Parish Supper will soon be approaching (Sunday, September 30th). Envelopes are provided should you wish to help with the cost of the turkey. Your donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

MARRIAGE BANNS: There is a promise of marriage between Jeff Patrick Lepine son of Willie Lepine and Aileen Cotnam and Tanya Lynn Visutski daughter of Patrick Visutski and Tammy Cruise. The wedding will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15th at St. Alphonsus Church.

There is a promise of marriage between Andrew Edmond Joseph Timm son of Mervyn Timm and Deborah Brazeau and Lindsey Iveagh Duff daughter of Lenard Duff and Atje Nieuwland. The wedding will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church on Saturday, September 22 at 3:00 p.m.

IMPORTANT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: On September 30th we will be hosting our highly anticipated Chapeau Parish Supper which has earned the reputation as one of the best suppers around. Volunteers and input are needed to make our Parish Supper fabulous once again this year. The title “Parish Supper” is put on for the Parish by the Parish. The “Parish” are the people. We are all important participants in every detail & aspect of our meal. We need people to help at the table service, coffee & tea set up & servers, dice game, 50/50 draw and the take down. A meeting will be held on Sunday, September 9th after mass to provide input and volunteer rosters. Thank you.

REMINDER: The parish draw tickets are available in the churches. We strongly encourage each family to take some to sell for one of our Parishes biggest Fundraisers. Thank you for your continued assistance in this annual fundraising effort.

MISSION: HONORING FATHER CHABOT’S WISHES-HIS GIFT TO YOU  John Pridmore is an ex-gangster who underwent an amazing conversion experience and later worked with the Friars of the Renewal in the Renewal in the Bronx and with Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. His is now a full-time lay evangelist living in Ireland. He will share his story at a three-day area mission at St. Columbkille Cathedral, Pembroke, from Monday, October 1st to Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018. An internationally know best-selling author and much sought after speaker, John has conducted Parish Missions and has spoken to groups throughout the world. He has spoken at many high school assemblies and has addressed half a million young people in the presence of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI at World Youth Day in Australia in 2008. WEST PONTIAC CONNECTS: West Pontiac Connects will be starting a new session of skills link participants on September 10Th, 2018. We are still recruiting people who are interested in taking the program. If you are between the ages of 15 and 30 and are willing to commit to a 23-week, paid program, we have a great opportunity waiting for you.

She spends her summer growing and selling heirloom vegetables, fruits & herbs at her roadside kiosk off Highway 148. Cassie will be at the Gallery selling her products & produce on Saturday & Sunday September 8th & 9th 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

FLYING FATHERS PRESENTATION AT ALGONQUIN COLLEGE: Join Frank Cosentino as he shares stories about the Flying Fathers at the Algonquin College Speaker Series on Thursday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m. at the Pembroke Waterfront Campus. Frank has recently written a book on the Flying Fathers, a group of Catholic priests who raised more than $4-million for charity over a 45-year period by playing in more than 900 exhibition hockey games. Notes from Fr. Tim:
1)     Well, evidently summer vacation time is over although it hardly seems like it ever started! C’est la vie. We are starting up our regularly activities over the next few weeks and soon we’ll be back in the full swing of parish life.

2)     Please remember that every student needs to participate in the full catechism program each year if they wish to receive their sacraments. Classes will begin on the 1st Sunday of November at 9:15 am. If you have a child who has not yet registered for the program, please call the Parish Office asap to get them enrolled.

3)     Looking forward to seeing a large turnout of volunteers for the Chapeau Parish Supper meeting on September 9th. See details below.
