Canada Day:  The Sheenboro Canada Day committee would like to thank Father Tim for launching our festivities with a mass, and to the many volunteers who were instrumental in making Canada Day 2019 such a great success.  Thank you for your continued generosity and hard work.  We are particularly appreciative to all the children (as young as 10) who worked so diligently and enthusiastically in the park before, during, and after Canada Day.  Thank you, as well, to those who donated to the Silent Auction, to the many who entered floats in the parade, and to all our friends who showed up to celebrate Canada Day the Sheenboro Way with us.

Fr. Tim Notes:
1) I haven’t heard from any volunteers needed for our fundraising play on August 10th. This event should realize a significant profit for each of the three organizations putting it together (St. Alphonsus, Residence Meilleur, Chapeau RA) but only if we can count on volunteers to work to make the event a success. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE… step forward and offer your name to make it one.

 2) Our prayers and sympathies go out to the Ryan family as they grieve the passing of Mr. Herbie Ryan of Pembroke. His funeral service was held on Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and his ashes were interred in the St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery. Please keep his wife and family in your prayers.

 3) Congratulations to Matthew Morris and Chelsey Schryer who married each other this weekend in Chapeau. Please pray that they have a long and happy life together.

 4) “Who is my neighbour?” This line from the Gospel this weekend should provoke some deep thought in all of us. Since every human person is created in the image and likeness of God, are not all people more than just our neighbour but really our siblings in Christ Jesus? So I ask you: how ‘neighbourly’ have you been lately? Do you offer the benefit of the doubt as to their intentions when we encounter them or are we quick to assume they intend to do us harm by what they do or say?
