A little Catholic Humour
A Jesuit was in his office smoking a cigar as he prayed the Divine Office. His secretary noticed him smoking and asked if that was permissible. The Jesuit responded “I don’t know, I’ve never asked. I’ll ask my superior tomorrow.” The next day, he reported to his secretary that “I asked my superior, and he said, ‘Of course it’s okay to pray while you smoke!'”
|Fr. Tim Notes:|
|1) Our sympathy and prayers go out to the families of Mr. Michael Allard (Chichester) and Mr. Terry Morris (St. Joseph’s) whose funerals were celebrated here this past week. We ask you to please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers in the weeks and months ahead.
2) Our adult catechism program has begun with the video program on ‘The Eucharist: The Real Presence.’ In Chapeau, we watched the introduction and first lesson and will proceed with the next presentation on Wednesday following the 10 am morning Mass. The first presentation will start this Tuesday (Oct 29th) at 7 pm. in the Church sacristy. Please remember that we are offering this program at different times during the day so that if you are free during the only morning hours or evening hours, you will be able to attend irrespective of whatever parish you belong to. We need to begin to rebuild our faith in all three parishes, so this is not a time to think that you can only attend the program offered in the Church where you worship. Please make an effort to attend when the time best fits your schedule.
3) Thank you to all the volunteers who made last weekend’s parish supper in St. Joseph a great success. In particular, I wish to extend my particular gratitude to Donna Tierney, who once again took on the leadership role to ensure that everything went smoothly for volunteers and customers alike. Thanks to their efforts and your support, the parish received over $6,000 to help pay this winter’s heating bills.
4) We are searching for one more teacher to help teach the Catechism program to our parish children on the first Sunday of each month at 9:15 am in DWKS in Chapeau. PLEASE help us with this vital program. It is not an onerous task that requires a great deal of one’s time, but our children need to be educated in the faith and prepared for their sacraments. The program begins on November 3, 2019. Your help in spreading the news of the start of this year’s program is much appreciated. We are asking all children to renew their registration by either calling the office or completing a form at home and bring it into either parish office when it is open. Copies of the registration forms will be available in each of the three parish churches.
