Fr. Tim Notes: |
1) Do you know what ”transubstantiation‘ is? It’s a word we don’t hear very often anymore. It is the process that happens during the consecration of the bread and wine, changing them into the real presence of Jesus in his body and blood. It translates to ‘change in substance,’ meaning that the actual substance of bread and wine become something else… something incredible and fantastic. They become God, physically present to us every time we come to Mass and receive communion. It’s what makes our Catholic communion unique and different from what’s offered in Protestant churches, for they do not believe in transubstantiation. That’s why we should not take communion in their churches or even approach our communion, thinking that it is little more than a symbolic representation of Jesus as they do. It is God we encounter every time we make our communion at a Mass. So, I ask you to consider this: If you knew that you were going to have a face to face meeting with God, what would you do to prepare for that encounter? It’s something for you to consider as you approach the altar to receive the eucharist in communion.
2) While we’re talking about the Eucharist, did you know that we have begun our program of Eucharistic Adoration in Sheenboro already? It will happen every Saturday morning from 9 am to 11 am. Exposition and Adoration will start in both Chapeau and St. Joseph’s churches within the next couple of weeks. Come out and spend some time with Jesus! 3) Happy birthday to Pauline Lepine, our parish secretary, who was born on November 3rd, 19?? Here’s hoping that her day is filled with love, laughter, and lots of cake! |
