R.I.P. James Michaud

Michaud, James:  Jimmy died peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2019, at the age of 82, with his wife of 54 years Mary (McCann) by his side. Born in 1937 and raised near Sheenboro Quebec, the youngest son of Anastasia Watters and James Michaud and the last surviving sibling of seven sisters Mary (O’Neil), Eileen (Burton), Frances (Langton), Anne (Baker), Rosie (Poirier), Cammie (Doyle), Monica (O’Leary) and two brothers Eddie (Mary Carroll) and Lawrence (Diane Fitzpatrick/McCann). He is survived by his wife Mary and his children Patricia (Nicholas Bundza), Chris (Jeff Lukasik), John and Mark (Allison Clyde) and his grandchildren Ike, Ella and Luci Bundza and Patrick and William Michaud. Growing up on the farm he developed a strong work ethic and values from his parents, teachers and community. He also developed a love for hockey, baseball, music and dancing that lasted all his life. He worked as an electrician at the Atomic Energy of Canada in Chalk River. He pursued his education degree and moved to Ottawa and became a teacher at Rideau and later Woodroffe High Schools. A loving and dedicated son, husband and father. He coached minor hockey and baseball in the Ottawa area and spent summers at the cottage and at the farm near Sheenboro where he grew up. When Alzheimer’s disease began to overtake him, he surrendered humbly but kept his good spirits to the end. Along the way, Jimmy was fortunate to meet many wonderful committed caregivers. To remember Jimmy, please take time to get to know and to lend your support for the work of these exceptional people. With special thanks to Ottawa West Community Services, the employees of the Perley and Rideau Veterans Hospital, Specialized Behavioural Support Unit and to Nathalie Genest for her many years of support and friendship to Jimmy. A large caring family and generous and thoughtful friends is an incalculable blessing. Thank you to the McCann and Michaud family members and to the neighbours and friends who supported Jimmy, Mary and the family through the past years.
