Fr. Tim Notes: |
1) ‘Are you the one who is to come or are we to wait for another?’ These words from today’s gospel have profound meaning for us as Catholics of the Pembroke Diocese. At its base, it’s a challenge placed before all of us as to whether we truly believe that Jesus is indeed our Messiah, Lord, and King. In other words, do you believe that Jesus is the ‘one who is to come’ both at Christmas and at the end of time? For us of the Pembroke Diocese, it’s also a question we put to some clerics asking if they are soon to be named our new Bishop. Perhaps the fortunate coincidence of this gospel passage and our empty episcopal throne is a challenge for us to grow in our faith in God and his Holy Catholic Church. To trust that the Holy Spirit will inspire the Pope to grant us the Bishop we need now and that we will find Christ a merciful Saviour when he returns in glory at the end of time.
2) Need or want to go to confession before the Christmas feast? I am in the confessional on Thursday and Friday evenings in St. Joseph’s during the 7 pm to 8 pm Eucharistic Adoration hour. 3) Here is the schedule for the Christmas and New Year’s Masses. Please remember that BOTH feasts are Holy Days of Obligation, where we are to attend Mass. Christmas Eve: St. Joseph’s and Sheenboro at 5 pm; Chapeau at 7 pm. Christmas Morning: Chapeau at 10:30 New Year’s Eve: Sheenboro at 5 pm. New Year’s Day: St. Joseph’s at 9 am; Chapeau at 10:30 am |
