YOUNG AT HEART NEWS: activities will start again for a new year. Cards start date will be Wednesday, October 14th at 1 pm. Pot Luck at noon on Wednesday, October 21st followed by a General Meeting. Reminder that this is a good time to renew your membership and we welcome new members.

FORMATION DAY FOR CATECHISTS AND OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS: A formation day for catechists will be held on Saturday, November 21st, 2015 at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish Hall, 284 Trafalgar Road,Pembroke from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our guest speaker for the day will be Dr. Jason Dedo, with lunch and refreshments provided. There is no registration fee but registration is necessary. This formation day is open to all catechists, those interested in the ministry of catechesis, pastors, deacons and pastoral assistants. BISHOP SMITH – PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS: will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 4 pm – 7:30 pm.

FRIENDS OF PERU: We want to thank you for the support of our friends in Peru. We will be returning to Peru in November and anyone who wants to give a donation we will see that 100% of it is given to a needy family.   We will not have a 50/50 draw this year but if you can collect refundable bottles or cans from your neighbors and cash them in for this work , it would be and added bonus. Donations can be placed in a separate envelope, marked Friends of Peru and placed in the Sunday collection. If you give us your email address we will try to keep in touch from Peru.  VISIONING SESSIONS: What will Isle-aux-Allumette and Chichester look like in 2025? Wednesday, October 7th at 7 pm at St. Joseph Hall. Thursday, October 8th at 7 pm at Harrington Community Centre 64 Pembroke Rd. Come share your ideas and future growth and development. Everyone is welcome at either of these sessions!

ST. JOSEPH SUPPER TICKETS: are now available for the Parish Supper on Sunday, October 18th, 2015. PENCIL DRAWING CLASSES ON TUESDAY OCTOBER 13, 20, 27 AND NOVEMBER 3: Maurice will also be teaching pencil drawing, the class will entail the basic drawing skills you should learn in order to do a great painting. Classes have a maximum number of students. Cost $40.00 for 4 classes from 6-8 pm. Contact Maurice at 819-689-5407.

Bishop N.Z. Lorrain Council 1531 of the Knights of Columbus will sponsor its annual cemetery service on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m at St. Columba’s Cemetery.  Those attending will be permitted to place flowers on grave sites. You are encouraged to bring your own chairs for this event.

The next meeting of Bishop N.Z. Lorrain council 1531 of the Knights of Columbus will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the K of C hall on Ellis Avenue, Pembroke at 7:30 p.m. Any Catholic man wishing to become a Knight can start the process by calling Grand Knight Maurice Levesque at 613-638-3375.

Parish Happenings:

1) Sunday October 4th: Annual Pro-Life “Life Chain” – corner of Pembroke St. W. & Christie Streets from 2 – 3 pm. Come and give silent witness to the sanctity of life as we pray for the souls of children whose lives are terminated in abortion and for pregnant mothers considering having an abortion.

2) Sunday November 1st: Catechism Classes (DWKS) – Chapeau at 9:15 am. Books are $10 for the workbook. Grade 6 students will meet with Fr. Tim after Mass.

3) Sunday Masses: Our children’s liturgy is about to restart in Chapeau. Please note that this year it is for children between the ages of 3 to 10 only. Thanks!

4) Bible Study: Thursdays at 7 pm at the parish rectory in St. Joseph’s. New members welcome!
