Attention St. Alphonsus Readers and EOMEs: Your new schedule is ready and can be picked up in the sacristy. Thank you.

Don’t forget that next Sunday is Father’s Day. If you are lucky enough to still have your Dad with you, make sure to drop in for a visit or give him a call. If he’s already gone to his eternal reward, remember to say a prayer on his behalf! Too bad though that fathers don’t get the same privilege as mothers do on their special day. There’s no prohibition on washing dishes for the guys on Father’s Day!!

Notes from Fr. Tim
1) Many of you have heard about Pauline’s (our parish secretary) daughter giving birth prematurely this week to a baby girl, Ashton Marie Ann Godin in the Ottawa Hospital. Ashton is very small in size (weighing in at a scant 1.5 lbs) but seems to have the heart of a fighter! Still she is facing a number of months in hospital as she continues to struggle to survive. I have assured Pauline that her place is to be at her daughter’s side in the difficult days and that we can manage to the best of our ability in her absence. So, if you find yourself frustrated or annoyed for the next few weeks because it’s hard to reach someone at the office or perhaps if an announcement has been missed or mangled, I simply ask you to offer it up as a prayer for this tiny tot who’s fighting to stay among the living and for the comfort and support of her family. Let us together storm the gates of heaven with prayers on their behalf, for in these days when the news is filled with stories of assisted-death, war, and other sad events, it will seem a grace to be able to do our part to assist at least this one nascent soul in staying among us.

2) I look forward to seeing as many as possible at the Chapeau CWL Banquet this week. The food and fraternity embodied by this important event always serves to lift the spirits of all who attend.

3) Bible Study continues on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. in the St. Joseph’s rectory.

4) I wish to add my personal congratulations and those of our parishes to Cecil and Gail Sullivan on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. May God bless them both with many more years of health and happiness together.
