Notes from Fr. Tim:
1) Our Spaghetti Supper last Sunday in Chapeau was a great success, raising almost $2,800 for our Peruvian mission project. This brings our total funds raised to almost $4,000. This money will be sent to a Rotary Club in Shawinigan, QC which will add an addition $1,000 and then forward the funds to a club in Peru which will ensure the funds go exclusively to the intended project. MANY thanks to all who helped make this happen, particularly Gene O’Brien, Mary Lou Morin, and Nicole Bertrand who prepared and served all the food, and to Yves and Kay Lafontaine who guided the entire fundraising initiative on behalf of our Chapeau parish throughout the year. And thanks to all who generously supported this project with their money and donations.

2) It was a great privilege to be able to announce that three Chapeau parishioners have been awarded a Bene Merenti Medal from the Vatican as a result of a request from Bishop Mulhall. This prestigious award is granted to Catholics who excelled in three areas of their life: the transmission of the faith within their family, outstanding service in the life of their civic community, and a long and active involvement in the life of their parish. The three men who will be presented this medal are Jerome Sallafranque, Albert Collin, and Henry Sallafranque. The date for the award ceremony will be announced soon. Watch here for the announcement.

3) We are badly in need of people to step up to become readers and extraordinary eucharistic ministers in all three churches. PLEASE consider speaking with me if you would be willing to help. We are also always in need of altar servers. Children who are willing to take on this responsibility only need to show up in the sacristy 15 minutes before Mass so that we can get them properly outfitted with cassocks that fit.

4) Advent is fast approaching with the 1st Sunday being celebrated on the weekend of December 1/2. Once again this year we will be distributing paper symbols that families can decorate to be placed on the church Christmas Trees. The decorations are a Cross (decorated in memory of deceased family members), a Cradle (decorated with baby pictures of the recently baptized), and a Star (celebrating family celebrations of the past year such as an anniversary, wedding, family reunion etc.). They will be placed on a tree in each Church during the first three weeks of Advent. On the fourth week, the Christmas tree lights will be turned on to remind us of the imminent arrival of the infant Jesus, light of the world.
